Host with the most: what skills now?



Pete* is 24 years old and works as a male host in a bar. He’s been doing this for a few months now. Standing at 1.8m, he gyms on average 5 times a week to stay fit. With his youthful outlook, the bar host job appears an easy fit for the tall and muscular youth. Lyfeportal speaks to Pete to gather interesting facts and insights.



1. How did you find out about the male host job?


I was a customer at the bar with my friend. I asked the boss if they were hiring and got the job.



2. What are your working hours like?


The hours are pretty flexible and I can come anytime I want.


3. What do you like or dislike about the job?


I like it because I get to social with many different kinds of people. I dislike it probably because there’s no basic salary.



4. What do you say when family or friends ask you what you do for work?


I tell them I am in the entertainment line.


5. Are your customers mostly males or females?


They are a mix of guys and girls.


6. What’s the worst experience you’ve had so far?


Thankfully, so far I haven’t had any bad experience.


7. What qualities or skill(s) do you think are important to be a male host?


I feel that an important quality is to keep the conversations going, and be a good listener so that the customers feel comfortable... and know how to have fun.



8. Do you think it’s important for this job to have good looks and body?


I feel that they are but not as important as communication skills.
